Cora Blyth de Portillo

Cora was student of Spanish at Oxford when she first became closely associated with the colony of niños de la guerra at Aston, Oxfordshire where she met the exiled Republican Luis Portillo. She was a keen supporter of our Association.

She is survived by her four sons and their families.

Cora's son Michael writes:

"My mother has died […] aged 95. She suffered a stroke about ten days [before her death] and has been peaceful and unaware since then. Although she had lost her memory completely, until the stroke she was cheerful and talkative, reasonably mobile, with perfect hearing and eyesight good enough to read.

She had celebrated her 95th birthday on January 8 [2014]."
