BCA'37 eNotices #30

Welcome to our 30th Newsletter.

Dear Readers

Many of you will know Natalia Benjamin personally and many more of you will be aware of the pivotal role that she played in the early days of the association, first as co-founder with Manuel Moreno and then, as secretary, as the driving force behind the early years of the association. Many of you also know that for many years Natalia has been suffering from that most cruel affliction - Parkinson's disease which has led to her gradually and steadily contracting her ability to contribute to the work of the association. More recently she was made lifetime Honorary President of BCA'37 UK, following Helvecia Hidalgo in that position. Towards the end of last year Natalia signalled her intention to resign her trusteeship, which we sadly have to accept.

In a wish to recognise her dedication and achievements we have organised "The Natalia Benjamin Conference on Basque Child Refugees" which will be held at the Cañada Blanch Centre in London on 1 May (see below).

You may have noticed that it is now some time since our last eNotice. We have decided that from now on we will just produce four a year: in February/March, May/June, August/September and November/December. This should make better use of our limited resources - you wouldn't believe how long they take to put together! Similarly we will change our "from the archives" column at the same intervals. It will be more important for you to keep an eye on our website for any last minute events that didn't make it on to our previous eNotice.

The 2019 Association's Annual Report can be read here … and a summary of events should be available on the web within the next of couple of weeks - so do please keep a look out for it.

With best wishes to you all
Carmen Kilner

Bienvenido a nuestro boletín nº30.

Queridos lectores

Carmen Kilner
